Crazy Times at Crazy Hat!
This past weekend was a very busy one for our swim club. 15 Waves swimmers traveled to Calgary on Saturday to compete at the UCSC Crazy Hat Jr. Circuit meet at Foothills Aquatic Center. Our 15 swimmers competed in a total of 55 swims, resulting in 34 top ten finishes & 29 new personal best times. Great job Waves!!! Photos and Videos are online.
Girls 10 & Under
Abby Caron – 25 back, first; 25 free, first; 50 free, second.
**This was Abby’s last meet as a 10 year old & a great meet for her, 3 new best times**
Julie-Ann Jans – 25 breast, first; 200 IM, second; 50 back, third; 50 breast, fourth.
**Julie-Ann took off 9.68 seconds in the 50 back, great job!**
Trinity Shilka – 100 IM, first; 50 breast, third; 25 free, third; 25 breast, third.
**4 new best times for Trinity, including taking off 21.75 seconds in the 100 IM…what a great swim**
Bethany Regier – 25 breast, second; 50 breast, second; 100 IM, fifth; 50 back, 17th.
**Beth has been training very hard in her first season swimming with Tom, 3 new best times on Saturday**
Hayley Finley – 25 breast, fourth; 50 breast, fifth; 25 free, fifth; 50 free, ninth.
**Two great meets in a row for Hayley, best times in 3 of the 4 events that she swam**
Mackenna Schuett – 50 fly, second; 25 breast, sixth; 50 breast, 12th; 50 free, 14th.
**Mackenna really impressed me at this swim meet, she swam a 50 fly & a 50 free in less than 10 minutes & achieved best times in both events**
Rachel Regier – 25 back, fourth; 25 free, 14th, 50 back, 15th.
**Rachel is turning out to be quite the backstroke swimmer, a bit of a tough day for her Saturday but she did get one new best time in 25 back**
Christina Douvis – 25 back, 11th; 25 free, 14th; 50 free, 24th; 50 back, 29th.
**Christina did a great job on Saturday for only her second meet ever, 4 swims & 4 best times**
Samantha Dunphy – 25 breast, 21st; 25 free, 28th; 25 back, 29th; 50 free, 41st.
**Samantha got to try a new event on Saturday, the 25 breast, and she did a fabulous job. She also took 7.14 seconds off her 50 free**
Hannah Kozakewich – 25 back, 23rd; 25 free, 34th; 50 free, 42nd.

Julia Schafer – 25 back, 45th.
**Our little 5 year old had an absolute blast this Saturday. This was her first out of town meet and the Waves are very proud of her, she has been working very hard**
Boys 10 & Under
Jordan Dewever – 25 free, first; 25 breast, first; 25 back, second; 25 fly sixth.
**3 best times for Jordan, including taking off 6.33 seconds in the 25 back**
Spiro Douvis – 25 back, seventh; 25 free, 21st; 50 free, 22nd.
**First out of town meet for Spiro, terrific 25 backstroke swim taking off 12.98 seconds. Keep up the hard work**
Girls Age 12
Carly Sivasankar – 50 breast, first; 25 free, first; 25 breast, first; 50 free, first.
**4 swims, 4 first place finishes…but most importantly 4 new best times. Great job Carly**
Girls Age 13
Chloe Chapdelaine – 25 fly, first; 25 free, first; 50 fly, first; 50 free, first.
**Great swimming Chloe, four first place finishes. Very impressive that she swam her 50 fly, then waited one heat (about 40 seconds!) & then swam 50 free, so tiring**
Great Kids!
We'd would like to thank all the swimmers for their excellent behavior this Saturday. Our area was clean as a whistle when we left the deck, makes all 3 of us coaches very happy.
The coaches would also like to thank all the parents that patiently sat in the very crowded bleachers for over 4 hours on Saturday. We could hear you cheering, and could see some of you crammed in like sardines in the stands! Oh the things we do for our kids!
